Let me explain to you how chiropractic works. Over time or due to injury there can be a loss of normal motion or position of the spinal bones. This is called a subluxation. This can result in a restriction of the spine in areas. To compensate for that loss of motion the spinal joints above or below can attempt to make up for it by moving excessively. The areas of excessive movement are attempting to stabilize the spine.
Chiropractic spinal adjustments are specifically made to the areas that are restricted and not moving properly. Each joint is enclosed in a capsule of fluid that should have friction free movement. Chiropractic care helps to ensure this occurs.
The subluxation can result in weak and tight muscles as well as nerve root impingement. Disc, ligaments and connective tissue can become inflamed. Over time bone spurs and arthritic changes can occur from wear and tear on the joints. The nervous system controls and regulates your body. Therefore, pain is a red flag in which your body is communicating that there is a problem and it should not be ignored.
There are three frequent causes of subluxations: physical, chemical, and mental stress. It can be caused by injuries, repetitive motion, improper lifting, emotional problems, poor diet or a wide variety of things. Therefore, anyone experiencing these problems can benefit. Children, elderly, and anyone in between can be treated with modified adjusting techniques.
